REFLECTING AS A LEARNER

The International Baccalaureate provides students with the necessary attributes they need to become better versions of themselves, and these attributes are classified into two parts, the “IB Learner Profile” and the “Approaches to Learning Skills”. Among the many profile attributes and the numerous ATL skills, this year I had greatly improved on my Self Management and Communication skills, which eventually resulted in me being a more Balanced and Inquisitive person in general.
The improvement of my self-management skills mainly occurred as a result of the Gantt Chart and effective planning I had conducted at the start of this journey. Following the rigid deadlines and reflecting on what I can improve next helped me create a work-life balance that not only allowed me to submit all my work on time but also helped me stay physically active. Following these deadlines resulted in me having more time to communicate with mentors and obtain perspectives from the people I was interviewing. This provided me with a great advantage, as the ideas I had gotten from these interviews helped me optimize my final product. Furthermore, I was not only able to gather this information but was also able to present it in a way that my audience understands my topic. My communication skills were also greatly used when I used to communicate with my mentor and that again requires a lot of planning and organizing. I am very proud of how far I have come since the beginning of my project and have learnt many new things about the IB Program and what it means to be an IB student.
